SAGU Starts the 2022 Season 2-0 after Walk Off Solo Home Run

 
Waxahachie, TX – The SAGU Baseball team took two wins from Sterling College to open up the 2022 season as they won game one 4-3 after a walk-off solo homerun from Bryson Collins in the bottom of seventh inning. In game two, the Lions dominated the Warriors taking a 12-1 victory.
 
Game 1:
 
SAGU would end the game in dramatic fashion, thanks to a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the seventh from Bryson Collins to topple Sterling College. With a 3-3 tie ball game, one out, and a 1-0 count, Collins would lift one over the right field wall to give the Lions the 4-3 win.
 
Sterling would get things started in the second inning as Edrick Morillo grounded out, scoring one run. SAGU would then even things up at three in the bottom of the fifth inning as Luis Salazar singled scoring one run, and then Ben Bills tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
 
Logan Mann earned the victory on the mound for the Lions. The senior pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking zero.
 
Ethan Nors started the game for SAGU going five innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out seven.
 
SAGU racked up six hits in the game. Bills and Collins each managed two hits in the game to lead the Lions.
 
Game 2:
 
SAGU jumped out to an early lead in game two against Sterling College as Alejandro Garcia drove in a run in the first inning to tie the ball game at 1-1. In the second inning it was Matt Daiy who would hit a sacrifice fly to score JV Verdin and give the Lions a 2-1 lead.
 
The Lions would pull away for good as they added five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and another five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Bryson Collins, Ben Bills, and Cade Hendricks each had RBIs in the frame.
 
Michael Watson led SAGU to victory on the hill. The lefty allowed just one hit and one run over five innings, striking out ten. Jadon Harper threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen allowing no runs and no hits. As a team, SAGU collected thirteen hits led by Alejandro Garcia and Luis Salazar. Garcia would lead the Lions going 3-3 with two doubles and three RBIs.
 
SAGU Baseball will be back in action tomorrow as they finish out the series with Sterling College. Game three's first pitch is set for 12:00 PM, and game four will follow.
