4-Hit Day for Bills Earns SAGU Sweep Over OPSU

Goodwell, OK – Ben Bills had a busy day at the plate on Saturday, smacking four hits in SAGU's 15-1 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Bills singled in the first, singled in third, singled in the sixth, and singled in seventh, while adding 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. With this win, the Lions swept the Aggies in the three-game conference series, making this their second conference series sweep in a row. SAGU extends their win streak to seven, and they now sit at 22-7 overall and 8-4 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
 
The Lions secured the victory thanks to nine runs in the sixth inning. Cade Dorethy, Cade Hendricks, Bryson Collins, Craig Venable, Ben Bills, and Matt Daiy each had RBIs in the frame.
 
Logan Mann earned the win for SAGU. Mann went three innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out two and walking zero. He also earned in his 100th career strikeout in inning one.
 
Kaden Kneip and Grant McManus entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Kneip went three innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out five and walking zero.
 
Josiah Roundtree took the loss for OPSU. Roundtree surrendered seven runs on seven hits over five and third innings, striking out five.
 
SAGU racked up 15 hits. Bills, Hendricks, Collins, JV Verdin, and Dorethy each racked up multiple hits for the Lions. Bills led the Lions with four hits in five at bats.
 
SAGU will be back at home on Tuesday, March 29, as they face Huston Tillotson University at 2:30 PM.
