Bethany, OK – On Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field in Bethany, Oklahoma, the No. 23 Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions baseball team faced the Southwestern Christian University (SCU) Eagles in the closing games of their Sooner Athletics Conference (SAC) series.
Game 1:
The SAGU Lions bested the SCU Eagles 3-2 in the day's first game. Despite having one fewer hit overall, the Lions were able to capitalize with two vital runs in the third inning to secure the victory.
The SAGU attack was launched by RBIs from Bryson Collins and Craig Venable. Hits were also added by Avery Chatman, Timothy Compomizzi, JV Verdin, and Nick Mosley.
Matthew Hickey (W, 5-3) was outstanding on the mound. For the Lions, Hickey pitched seven innings and struck out six hitters.

Game 2:
In the day's second game, the SAGU Lions won 7-6, extending their winning streak. The Lions scored seven runs on twelve hits.
Craig Venable, Timothy Compomizzi, Avery Chatman, Nick Mosley, and JV Verdin contributed RBIs. Avery Chatman hit a sound-shattering home run to left field to start the game, energizing and motivating the SAGU team.
JV Verdin delivered the game-winning hit, doubling to the right field outside the reach of the Eagle's infield and scoring the decisive run by bringing Ryan Saxton home.
Jadon Harper delivered two strikeouts on the mound for SAGU, and Trevor Proefrock added one.
