Waxahachie, TX – On Saturday afternoon, the No. 23 nationally ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions baseball team faced off against the Wayland Baptist University (WBU) Pioneers to start their three game series in Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) play.
Game 1:
The SAGU Lions started the day off strong in a 3-0 victory against the Pioneers. Michael Watson led the fight, nearly pitching his second no-hitter of the year. The Lions came out swinging, putting 2 runs on the board in the first inning.
The Lions drove in 3 RBIs on 6 hits on the day. Bryson Collins and Craig Venable led the offensive attack, bringing in a total of 3 RBIs. Avery Chatman, Matt Daiy, and JV Verdin all added in a hit of their own to the total.
Michael Watson pitched a shutout once again for the Lions. Pitching all seven innings and striking out 10 batters.

Game 2:
In Saturday's game 2, the SAGU Lions took a 9-6 victory, extending their winning streak to 5. The Lions scored nine runs on a dozen hits.
Timothy Compomizzi led the game with 4 huge RBIs, but he was not alone in the Lion's hard hitting outing. Alejandro Garcia, Andrew Ortiz, and Nick Mosely all drove in RBIs of their own to add to the Lion's score.
Matthew Hickey, Jadon Harper, and Cade Hendricks worked together to pitch SAGU to their 3 run victory.
