SAGU Lions Split Thrilling Doubleheader To Close Series Versus Stars

Waxahachie, TX - In a pulsating showdown, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball team delivered a riveting performance as they clashed head-to-head with the nationally-ranked Oklahoma City University (OCU) Stars in a crucial doubleheader to conclude their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) series.

 

Game 1
In the opening contest, the Lions triumphed with a resilient 7-5 victory over Oklahoma City. Xavien Thompson showcased his prowess at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a double, notching 2 runs, and securing an RBI. Andrew Ortiz contributed by scoring a run while Dominick Padilla delivered a stellar 3 for 4 performance, adding a run and 2 RBIs to the scoreboard. Eli Lyons electrified with a flawless 4 for 4 display, including 3 doubles and 2 RBIs. Timothy Compomizzi and Alejandro Garcia also made impactful contributions. On the mound, Neco Lopez, Reagan Smith, and Kaden Kneip combined efforts to secure the Lions' victory.

 

Game 2
In the subsequent match, the Lions faced a tough challenge, succumbing to a narrow 5-3 loss against Oklahoma City. Despite the setback, Avery Chatman showcased his speed and precision, going 1 for 4, scoring a run, and executing a steal. Josh Pinter displayed offensive prowess, going 2 for 3 with a crucial double and 3 RBIs, while Wesley Flatt added depth with his 2 for 3 performance. On the pitching front, Matthew Hickey battled valiantly, despite absorbing the loss, while Justin De Los Santos provided solid relief in the closing inning.
