Oklahoma City, OK - The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions baseball team embarked on a thrilling journey to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for the highly anticipated 2024 Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Tournament. With determination and grit, they faced formidable opponents in a series of heart-pounding matchups.
Game 1: SAGU vs. Texas Wesleyan
In a nail-biting showdown, the Lions clinched a thrilling 4-3 victory over Texas Wesleyan. Xavien Thompson led the offensive charge, scoring 2 runs while contributing a hit in his 4 plate appearances. Avery Chatman tallied a crucial RBI, while Andrew Ortiz and Alejandro Garcia also notched hits. On the mound, Ethan Nors delivered a stellar performance, pitching 7 innings with 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 6 strikeouts. Matthew Hickey sealed the deal with a remarkable save, recording 3 strikeouts to secure the win.
Game 2: SAGU vs. OCU

Andrew Ortiz delivered a standout performance, going 3 for 3 with a triple, scoring a run, and tallying an RBI. Wesley Flatt continued his hot streak with a 3-for-4 outing, scoring 2 runs. Avery Chatman and Xavien Thompson also made significant contributions at the plate, while Dominick Padilla delivered a clutch hit with a double and 2 RBIs. On the mound, Matthew Hickey showcased his prowess, pitching 7 innings with only 2 earned runs on 7 hits and 5 strikeouts.
