Waxahachie, TX - The Nelson University Lions roared to victory on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Texas College 7-3 in a nine-inning non-conference matchup at the Lions Athletic Complex. A six-run fourth inning proved to be the defining moment, securing Nelson's 15th win of the season.
After a slow start that saw Texas College jump ahead 2-0 in the first inning, the Lions' bats came alive in the fourth. With the bases loaded, Josh Pinter drew a walk to bring in the first run, setting the stage for *Xavien Thompson's RBI walk and Andrew Ortiz's clutch RBI single. Dominick Padilla delivered the biggest blow, knocking in two more runs with a sharp single to cap off the six-run explosion.
On the mound, Shawn Robertson (1-0) picked up his first win of the season, tossing two perfect innings with four strikeouts. The bullpen locked down the game, with Hamilton Moye earning his first save, stranding multiple runners in the ninth to secure the win.
