Waxahachie, TX | March 17, 2026 — At the Lions Athletic Complex, the Nelson University Lions delivered a complete performance on both sides of the diamond, rolling past Wiley University in dominant fashion, 11-0.
From the first big swing to the final out, it was all Lions.
The tone was set early, and loudly.
In the bottom of the second inning, Diego Arcay stepped into the box and delivered the moment that broke the game open. With runners aboard, Arcay launched a three-run home run that electrified the home crowd and gave Nelson immediate control of the contest.
That swing was a spark that ignited an offensive avalanche.
Nelson's lineup didn't let up after Arcay's blast. The Lions piled up 13 hits and 11 runs, consistently applying pressure inning after inning.
Arcay finished a monster day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with 4 RBIs, leading a balanced attack that saw production up and down the lineup.
Tate Thrasher matched that energy with a standout performance of his own, going 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs, including a clutch two-RBI single that extended the Lions' lead late.
Additional contributions came from across the order:
-
Caleb Dennis delivered an RBI double
-
Odnal Rivera added an RBI groundout
-
Multiple Lions crossed the plate, showcasing depth and unselfish offense
The Lions scored in six different innings, never allowing Wiley a chance to settle in.
While the offense stole the spotlight, the pitching staff delivered a masterpiece.
Nelson arms combined for a 3-hit shutout, completely silencing the Wiley bats.
The staff attacked the zone, struck out 13 hitters, and allowed just two walks, controlling the game from start to finish.
Efficient. Relentless. Dominant.
