Lions Unleash Offensive Explosion in 11-1 Run-Rule Victory Over Arlington Baptist

Box Score

Waxahachie, TX | March 24, 2026 — The bats were loud, the pitching was dominant, and the Lions protected home turf in emphatic fashion.

Nelson University delivered a complete performance Tuesday afternoon at the Lions Athletic Complex, rolling to an 11-1 run-rule victory over Arlington Baptist University. Behind a balanced offensive attack and suffocating pitching staff, the Lions controlled the game from first pitch to final out.

Nelson wasted no time setting the tone. After plating a run in the opening frame, the Lions added three more in the second to build early momentum. But it was the fifth inning that broke the game wide open. Nelson erupted for seven runs in a relentless offensive surge, stringing together timely hits, disciplined at-bats, and power that overwhelmed the Patriots' pitching staff.

Joshua Pinter led the charge with a statement performance, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, and two RBIs. Tate Thrasher added thunder to the lineup with a two-run homer of his own, finishing with two RBIs and two runs scored. Zeke Velazquez and Addison Patton each drove in two runs, while Diego Arcay contributed with a double and a pair of runs scored as the Lions piled up 11 RBIs on seven hits.

On the mound, Nelson's pitching staff was just as dominant. Shawn Robertson earned the win, allowing just one run over two innings while setting the tone early. From there, Ryan Avalos, Hamilton Moye, and Carson Davenport combined to shut the door, holding Arlington Baptist to just one hit across seven innings of work.

Defensively, the Lions backed their arms with clean, composed play, limiting opportunities and keeping Arlington Baptist off balance all afternoon. The Patriots' lone run came in the second inning, but Nelson responded immediately and never looked back.
