Box Score 2 Point Lookout, MO | April 11, 2026 — When it was time to close the door, the Nelson University Lions didn't flinch.
In a gritty, composed finale, the Lions took control late and finished off the series with a 7-2 win over College of the Ozarks, blending timely hitting, clutch at-bats, and shutdown pitching when it mattered most.
For the first three innings, both sides traded punches but couldn't land a knockout. Nelson stayed patient, waiting for the moment to strike and in the fourth, they broke through.
A two-run inning sparked by aggressive baserunning and situational execution gave the Lions the edge, but the Ozarks answered back to tie things at 2-2. The tension built. The moment demanded a response.
The sixth inning became the turning point.
The Lions erupted for four runs, flipping a tight contest into a commanding lead. Joshua Pinter came through in a massive way, driving in three runs. Zeke Velazquez added to the pressure with an RBI knock, while Justin Amesquita delivered off the bench with a key RBI hit that stretched the lead and broke the game open. TJ Sweat continued his strong weekend at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and setting the tone with energy on the bases.
On the mound, the Lions weathered early traffic before locking in.
After a competitive start, Luke Edmonds took control out of the bullpen and slammed the door. The right-hander was electric, tossing three scoreless innings while striking out five and allowing just one hit in a dominant closing stretch that shut down any hope of an Ozarks comeback.
Nelson racked up 11 hits, executed in key moments, and played clean baseball defensively to secure the 7-2 victory and close the series on a high note.
