Waxahachie, TX | April 17, 2026 — After a tough start to the day, Nelson Baseball flipped the script in emphatic fashion, erupting for 17 runs to close the series with authority and remind everyone exactly who they are.
Game one of the doubleheader didn't go the Lions' way. Central Christian controlled the tempo early and never let Nelson settle in, limiting the Lions to just one hit in a 6-0 decision.
But what came next? A response.
Trailing early in game two, Nelson wasted no time turning the momentum. After cutting into a 3-0 deficit in the first, the Lions unleashed one of their most explosive innings of the season in the third.
Eight runs. Six hits. Total takeover.
Odnal Rivera sparked the surge with a massive three-run home run as part of a perfect 4-for-4 day, finishing with four RBIs and setting the tone for a relentless offensive attack.
The lineup didn't stop there.
Diego Arcay drove in three runs. Addison Patton added a home run and three RBIs. Joshua Pinter delivered extra-base damage, and the Lions piled up 16 hits as a team in a complete offensive onslaught.
From that moment on, it was all Nelson.
The Lions continued to pour it on, adding runs in bunches and putting the game out of reach with a dominant 17-4 win to close the series.
On the mound, Luke Edmonds delivered a steady performance in relief, shutting down Central Christian over four innings to earn the win and stabilize the game after the early deficit.
