Lady Lions Fall in Season Opener

Waxahachie, TX – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Women's basketball team kicked off their 2020-2021 campaign by taking on Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OKWU). The game was fast pace and both teams went on runs early to make this contest fun. OKWU went on to win the game by a final of 92-81. The Lady Lions had a good showing and look to improve in their match up next week.  

Notable Performers
  • Sydney Meador (SR/Denton, TX) began her senior year on pace to hit 1,000 points before the end of the season. Sydney led the team with 18 points and 5 assists
  • Alexis Casher (SR/Irvington, AL) had 13 rebounds and commanded the paint on both sides of the floor
  • Layla Mendoza (FR/San Antonio, TX) brought in 17 points and 5 rebounds to lead the Lady Lions off the bench
  • SAGU forced 18 TO, and won the rebound battle with 19 offensive rebounds
