McPherson, KS – The SAGU Men's Soccer team was back on the road as they traveled to McPherson, Kansas to face Central Christian College in a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup.
The Tigers took an early lead as Johnny Rodriguez scored in the opening minutes of the game. Despite the early lead, the SAGU Lions kept fighting and searching for the draw. In the 44th minute, the Tiger's Nicholas Arenare doubled the lead with a Roberto Saldana assist. In the 55th minute the Lions took advantage and Juan Ambriz scored off a penalty kick. Ambriz now has 12 goals to his name so far this season. The Tigers would strike back though with Noah Banderas scoring the third goal of the game and Arthur Pancoto on the assist. In the 83rd minute of play Tyler Hoxie scores with Lucas Chirife on the assist. In the 86th minute Drew Schrader scores a lone goal, and just a minute later, Johnny Rodriguez doubles his tally with a brace. The Lions fell 6-1 to Central Christian moving them to 3-7 on the year.
The Lions will be back on the field as they take on Science and Arts at home on Tuesday, October 19, at 3:00 PM.
