Bethany, OK – Using a stifling defense and a dominant offensive performance from
Jaycie Brisco and
Rylee Lavender, the SAGU Women's Basketball team logged an impressive 60-46 season-opening victory over Southwestern College Friday evening in the Southwestern Christian University Classic.
The Lady Lions (1-0) held the Moundbuilders to just a 25.5 field goal percentage (13-51) and a 22.2 three-point percentage (4-18). SAGU also held every Southwestern player under ten points for the game.
The first quarter saw a tight battle as both teams stayed within five points, but during the second quarter the Lady Lions built a twelve-point lead. The Lions would go on to maintain their lead throughout the 3
rd and 4
th quarter and cruise to a 60-46 victory.
Jaycie Brisco, a freshman from Snook, Texas, had a great debut for the Lady Lions as she had double-double numbers scoring 19 points and pulling in 11 rebounds. Brisco shot 50% from the field (8-16) on the night in her 28 minutes played.
Rylee Lavender, a sophomore out of Brock, Texas, also had a great debut for SAGU as she scored 14 points while going 3-8 from three.
