Lady Lions Battle MACU in Overtime Thriller

Oklahoma City, OK – The SAGU Women's Soccer team was back on the road for the last time on Saturday night as they took on Mid-American Christian University.

The Lady Lions fell 2-1 to the Evangels in an overtime thriller during their last game of the 2021 season. Rylee Thatcher got the Lady Lions on the scoreboard first as she netted her 9th goal of the season in the 30th minute of play. However, the Evangels tied it up in the 58th minute as Mia Willyerd scored her 2nd goal of the season. Both teams put up a strong fight and had to take the game into overtime where the Evangels scored in the 95th minute, sealing the win as with Jasmine Morales scored her 3rd goal of the season with Johanna Behrens on the assist.

SAGU finished the year 4-11 with 32 goals scored average 2.13 goals per game. The Lady Lions also totaled 132 saves on the year. Rylee Thatcher led the SAGU offense with 9 goals while Alexis Roman added 6 goals. Thatcher finished with a .548 shooting percentage while Roman finished with a .545 shooting percentage. Zoe Boldt had a tremendous year at goalkeeper as she totaled 130 saves in 14 games started. She finished the year with an .818 save percentage.
