San Antonio, TX – SAGU Softball opened up the 2022 season on the road against Texas A&M San Antonio on Tuesday. They split the doubleheader taking game one 7-6 and falling in game two 2-1.
Game 1
The Jaguars would jump out to a big 6-0 lead in the bottom on the first inning, but the Lady Lions continued to chip away scoring two runs in the top of the second inning and third inning.
Autumn Graham, the Senior from Celina, Texas, would get settled in after the first inning and blank the Jaguars the rest of the day. In the top of the sixth SAGU was able to pile on three more runs to take a 7-6 lead as
Airiana Magdaleno would triple to right field scoring two, and
Rosie Guadarrama would follow with a single to score Magdaleno and take the lead. Graham would keep the Jaguars scoreless in the bottom of sixth and seventh to give the Lady Lions the 7-6 win.

Game 2
The Lady Lions struggled putting runs on the board despite having eight hits in game two of the doubleheader with Texas A&M San Antonio. SAGU's lone run of the game came in the top of the first inning as
Ashlyn Teran doubled to center field scoring
Airiana Magdaleno. Texas A&M San Antonio's Ryanne Limon would settle in from there going seven innings with one earned run and two strikeouts. Each team ended with eight hits, but a single and a walk in the in the bottom of the fifth inning would eventually give the Jaguars the 2-1 victory over SAGU.
