Lady Lions Fight Hard but Fall Short to OCU in Road Battle

October 24, 2023

Oklahoma City, OK - The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions soccer team embarked on a crucial road trip to face the Oklahoma City University (OCU) Stars in a high-stakes Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) showdown at Brian Harvey Field in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was a fiercely competitive battle, but the Lady Lions ultimately fell short, with OCU securing a 2-1 victory.

Lions Review
The game started with OCU coming out strong, securing two crucial goals in the 22nd and 58th minutes, giving them a 2-0 advantage on the scoreboard. However, the Lady Lions quickly adjusted their strategy and made some impressive plays to counter OCU's fast start.

Lady Lion freshman Stephanie Hernandez was a key contributor, scoring a contested goal, beautifully assisted by Valeria Olivas Maldonado. This goal breathed new life into the game and demonstrated the Lady Lions' resilience.

Despite a late push and valiant efforts, the Lady Lions fell just short of turning the tide in their favor. Zoe Boldt finished the game with nine saves.
