Waxahachie, TX - In a display of sheer dominance, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions roared to life at the Sheaffer Center, securing a commanding three-set victory against the No. 8 seed University of Science and Arts (USAO) Drovers in the Quarterfinal Round of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Women's Volleyball Tournament.
Lions Review
The game kicked off with both teams showcasing championship-worthy determination. The first set was a battle of wills, featuring multiple lead changes. Freshman sensation Mackenzie Smith stole the show with her magical swings, displaying exceptional poise in her first collegiate postseason contest. Guided by the seasoned trio of Riley Burcham, Emma Tompkins, and Tessa Glick, the Lady Lions proved their mettle and talent, setting the stage for an incredible start.
The momentum only intensified in the second set as the Lady Lions forced the USAO team into an early timeout after a remarkable 6-1 scoring run. Efforts to adjust by the Drovers couldn't thwart the unstoppable Lady Lion offense. The passing in the second set was nothing short of marvelous, with Riley Burcham and Cassidy Hargesheimer orchestrating plays seamlessly. Lindi Boling and Tessa Glick displayed exceptional digs, showcasing their defensive prowess.
In the third and final set, the Lady Lions put the finishing touches on their dominant performance. With unmatched determination, they closed out the game in style, leaving no doubt about their championship aspirations.

Emma Tompkins led the charge with 10 kills, followed closely by Alexandra Bonnett with 8 kills, Lilly Hanna with 7 kills, Mackenzie Smith and Bailee Alexander each contributing 7 and 6 kills, respectively. Cassidy Hargesheimer facilitated the offensive onslaught with 14 assists, while Riley Burcham shone brightly, leading the game with an impressive 20 assists. Defensively, Tessa Glick exhibited outstanding skill with 18 digs, supported by Lindi Boling's athletic 13 digs.
