Lady Lions Show Toughness in Exhibition Bout Against LCU Chaps

December 30, 2023

Waxahachie, TX - In a spirited exhibition matchup to close out the year, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions traveled to Lubbock, Texas, to take on the formidable D2 Lubbock Christian University (LCU) Chaps. Despite a valiant effort, the Lady Lions fell short, ultimately losing 72-63 in a hard-fought contest.

Lady Lions Review
From the opening tip-off, it was evident that this matchup would be defined by the battle in the paint. Agar Farres Garcia and Kyla McMinn engaged in a physical duel, each striving to establish dominance in the key. The intensity set the tone for an exciting game that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

One of the standout performances for the Lady Lions came from Neeley Tilley-Bedick, who showcased her scoring prowess with a series of impressive step-back jumpers. Her offensive spark played a crucial role in rallying the team after facing a deficit in the first half.

Former Division 2 point guard Wendy Clemmons demonstrated her expertise on the court, seamlessly transitioning into a playmaking role. Clemmons showcased her scoring ability off screens, delivering soft floaters with finesse, reminiscent of her days as a D2 collegiate point guard.

Senior guard Rylee Lavender displayed remarkable poise, maneuvering through double teams with ease. Lavender's scoring, marked by well-executed step-back jumpers and deft ball handling, kept the Lady Lions competitive throughout the game.

Despite trailing by a significant margin, the Lady Lions displayed resilience in the closing moments of the game, mounting a strong scoring run. However, the clock proved to be their adversary, and they ultimately fell short with a final score of 72-63.
