Lion Review
-
Both teams were looking forward to another epic clash after the SAGU team drove the No. 3 Langston team to the verge of collapse in the previous meeting between the two squads. Langston suffered from early foul problems in the first game, while SAGU Lions were the ones who were plagued by foul difficulty in the opening half of the second game.
-
The Lion's frontcourt of Tyler Kinghorn and Philbert Weekes both accrued two fouls in the first half of the game; thus, the Lions had to rely on a small ball lineup to keep them in the game.
-
Dallas Smith swished a pull-up three-pointer and then took his defender off the bounce to score back-to-back baskets for SAGU to give the Lions a 9-8 lead. Alerick Hall also successfully got past the defenders to elicit help and provide scoring chances for his squad.
-
After a spirited opening period, SAGU fell behind Langston 33-25. Coming out of the halftime intermission is when the Langston team would erupt.
-
Langston would rain a barrage of threes and end the game connecting on all 20 of their free throw attempts to stretch the lead.
-
Top performers for SAGU were Cortland Blake, who scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Philbert Weekes, who scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds despite sitting the majority of the game's first half.
-
Dallas Smith and Noah Boling both hit two three-pointers for SAGU, totaling eight points apiece.
-
Tyler Kinghorn added seven points, and Alerick Hall added six points.
Deal's Declaration Â

The first half of the season is now over, and part two—the postseason—the most exciting time of the year—is about to begin.
