Waxahachie, TX – On Saturday morning at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions baseball team faced the Central Christian College (CCC) Tigers in the final game of their Sooner Athletics Conference (SAC) series.
Game 1:
In this game against Central Christian, the Lions took charge immediately and never looked back.
On the mound, Matthew Hickey struck out ten Central Christian batters and only allowed three baserunners.

With a leadoff double that was the first run scored in today's game, Avery Chatman got the Lions off to a fast start in his typical crisp, and quick fashion Avery had two hits, three runs scored, a stolen base, and a spectacular diving grab in center field. He was excellent in every facet of the game today.
For the Lions, Matt Daiy was also outstanding. He contributed to Central Christian's attack by adding two hits, a walk, and three runs.
Bryson Collins had two excellent at-bats. Collins had a double, two runs scored, and two runs batted in.
Craig Venable added one RBI. Cade Hendricks contributed three RBIs. Timothy Compomizzi had one RBI, Sterling Seibold contributed three RBIs, JV Verdin recorded two RBIs, and James Maddox Henderson added one RBI. Sterling hit a three-run home run in his pinch-hit appearance.

"Another strong pitching performance from our starting pitcher. We strung together a lot of good at-bats and played great defense. An all-around great weekend for us. Excited to see us face some big challenges next week," said SAGU head baseball coach Matt Cornachione.

On Tuesday, March 21st, Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) will face the fourth-ranked Louisiana State University Shreveport on the road.
