Bethany, OK – On Friday afternoon at Eagle Field in Bethany, Oklahoma, the No. 23 Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions baseball team faced the Southwestern Christian University (SCU) Eagles in the opening game of their Sooner Athletics Conference (SAC) series.
Game 1:
The SAGU Lions were beaten 5-4 by the baseball squad of the Eagles Friday evening. The Eagles improved to a 19-9 record, snapping their four-game losing streak. The Lions' overall record dropped to 21-9 due to the defeat.
The Lions registered nine hits as opposed to seven by the Eagles.
Craig Venable was productive for the Lions, collecting three hits in his four at-bats. In the contest, Justin De Los Santos got two hits. Avery Chatman, Matt Daiy, Timothy Compomizzi, and Nick Mosley each had one hit.
Alejandro Garcia, Justin Delossantos, and Avery Chatman all contributed RBIs.
Michael Watson, the reigning NAIA pitcher of the week, took the mound for the Lions. In seven innings of pitching, the left-handed whiz recorded six strikeouts while using blazing-hot fastballs.
