Waxahachie, TX – On Tuesday evening at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions baseball team faced the Jarvis Christian College (JCC) Bulldogs in a single-game series.
Game 1:
The Jarvis Bulldogs jumped to a 4-2 lead after the first inning of play, attributed to the nationally-ranked SAGU Lions' abnormally slow start. Avery Chatman scored the opening run of the game for the Lions when Jarvis Christian College's pitcher fired a wild pitch.
Eli Lyons, Timothy Compomizzi, Andrew Ortiz, and Bryson Collins all brought in runs. Bryson Collins' two RBIs led SAGU. The SAGU home crowd was electrified by Eli Lyons' home run that soared to left field. The Lions' offense was what kept them afloat as the defense got its footing in the contest.
The Lions utilized an unconventional mix of pitchers to target the Jarvis Christin College batters from the mound. Hayden Mullins led SAGU with three strikeouts. Jadon Harper and Cade Hendricks both had one strikeout.
