Waxahachie, TX – On Friday afternoon in Waxahachie, Texas, the No. 24 Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions baseball team opened their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) series against the Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Evangels.
Game 1
In the series-opener the SAGU Lions fell to the MACU Evangels 10-4.The MACU Evangels winning performance was fueled by a strong final inning on offense in which they scored five runs. In the end the Lions recorded eleven hits compared to MACU's ten.
The Lions' Bryson Collins displayed the most ferocity on the day. The squad was spearheaded by Collins, for Collins' three RBIs led the SAGU offense.
In his four at-bats, Craig Venable also performed well for the Lions, registering two hits and an RBI. Timothy Compomizzi also performed well for the Lions, with two singles and an RBI in his three at-bats.
The SAGU squad was ultimately defeated by five fielding mistakes. On the mound, Michael Watson had eleven strikeouts as he lost just his second contest as the starting pitcher on the season moving his overall record to 8-2.
