Waxahachie, TX – On Saturday afternoon in Waxahachie, Texas, the No. 24 Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions baseball team closed their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) series against the Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Evangels.
Lions Review
In game one of the day, the Lions fell to MACU 8-3. Avery Chatman, Bryson Collins, and Andrew Ortiz contributed RBIs for the Lions. The Lions' most impressive offensive accomplishment came in the bottom of the fourth on a home run by Andrew Ortiz.
In the day's opening game, Avery Chatman displayed exceptional base running skills as well.
Matthew Hickey, in five innings of pitching, struck out five MACU batters. Trevor Proefrock and Reagan Smith each struck out a batter on the mound for the Lions.

The Evangels defeated the SAGU Lions in the series' last game, winning 14-4 to secure the sweep.
Timothy Compomizzi, Andrew Ortiz (2), and Matt Daiy contributed RBIs. The SAGU team took a 4-1 lead following Matt Daiy's outstanding hit, which singled to center field and scored two runs. However, the Lions could not add more runs after the fourth inning.
Kaden Kneip struck out two MACU batters, and Ethan Nors had three strikeouts to lead SAGU.
