SAGU Lions complete road series sweep of OPSU behind Hickey’s 14 strikeouts

Goodwell, OK – On Saturday afternoon in Goodwell, Oklahoma, the RV Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions baseball team closed their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) series against the Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Aggies.

 

Lions Review 

The RV Lions defeated the OPSU Aggies by a score of 11-5 in the last game of the series to sweep the conference road series. SAGU ended the game with a total of 12 hits and a total of 2 errors. OPSU ended the game with a total of five hits and a total of 5 errors

In the double-digit scoring performance, Matt Daiy (2), Craig Venable (4), and Andrew Ortiz (3) added RBIs for SAGU. In the game, both Andrew Ortiz and Craig Venable hit home runs.

Base-stealing by SAGU players Avery Chatman (4), Matt Daiy (2), Bryson Collins (2), Craig Venable, Andrew Ortiz, Dominick Padilla, and Armando Hernandez was another crucial aspect of the game.

With four stolen bases, Avery Chatman matched his season-high set against Jarvis Christian on March 28th.

The pitching effort by Matthew Hickey was outstanding. With 14, Matthew Hickey was one strikeout shy of matching the SAGU Lions' season high.

On Friday, April 28th, Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) will face Louisiana Christian University on the road.
