At Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU), Robert Herrera has been named the new Head Cross Country Coach. Robert Herrera finished his first season serving as SAGU's assistant track and field coach. Herrera, a former standout student-athlete at SAGU, is a steadfast and well-known figure at SAGU and has shown the ability to motivate a team of players to strive toward a common goal.
"I am extremely excited, humbled, honored, and eager to step into the role of the Head Cross-Country Coach at SAGU. This is a program that I have found success with as an athlete and assistant coach. However, this is a new year that requires new goals and expectations needing to be met. I'm starting a new journey at this amazing university and am thankful for SAGU's belief in me to achieve what I love doing. I am focused on equipping our individuals to be running billboards for Christ. And eager to make our mark once again in the NAIA. I look forward to working with the men & women of this program and helping them achieve their dreams," said Robert Herrera.
"Robert Herrera was a successful student-athlete at SAGU in cross-country. He possesses the technical knowledge, relationship-building ability, and administrative capacity to flourish as a head coach. Most importantly, SAGU has the opportunity to hire a SAGU alum who cares deeply for the institution, lives out the organization's mission and values, and as an assistant coach, has demonstrated deep care and concern for those individuals in his care. I am certain he will make a lasting impact on our cross-country program," remarked SAGU Director of Athletics, Dr. Jesse Godding.
As a leading Christian university, SAGU educates and prepares individuals who want to serve Christ and others. SAGU helps students discover and develop their God-given callings in a Spirit-empowered, learning community. We believe in affordable tuition, made possible in part through the financial support of donors who embrace the mission of SAGU and the importance of affordable, accredited programs to train Christians for leadership in ministry, business, education, and service. Most majors are available in-person in Waxahachie, TX, and online through a wide range of associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
