SAGU Lions Face Tough Battles in Doubleheader Against No. 22 Central Methodist

Waxahachie, TX - In a baseball showdown at the Lions Athletic Complex in Waxahachie, Texas, the SAGU Lions clashed with the formidable No. 22 Central Methodist University Eagles Friday morning. 

Game 1
In a closely contested opening game of the series, the Lions faced a tough 3-1 loss against the Central Methodist Eagles. Xavian Thompson showcased his prowess at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a double and scoring the sole run for the Lions. Despite Matthew Hickey's commendable 6 innings with only 2 earned runs and 5 strikeouts, the Lions couldn't secure the win. Justin De Los Santos delivered a solid 3 innings of relief with 1 hit and 3 strikeouts. 

Game 2
In the second game, the Lions encountered a challenging 13-2 defeat against the Eagles. Andrew Ortiz emerged as a standout performer, going 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run. Maddox Henderson contributed a crucial hit, going 1 for 1 with an RBI. On the mound, Ethan Nors faced a tough outing with 4 earned runs in 2 innings. Jadon Harper and Trevor Proefrock showcased their prowess from the bullpen, each recording 3 strikeouts. 

Looking Ahead
With the series hanging in the balance, the SAGU Lions are gearing up for redemption as they face Central Methodist University (Mo.) in the last game on February 3rd at 12:00 PM.
