Padilla's Power Propels SAGU Lions to Walk-off Win in Cajun Collision Opener

Sterlington, LA - The SAGU Lions baseball team kicked off their Cajun Collision tournament campaign with a bang, as Dominick Padilla's clutch performance sealed a thrilling victory over the University of Mobile in game one on February 9, 2024.

Lions Review
In a game marked by tense moments and standout plays, Padilla's walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning solidified an 8-5 triumph for the Lions. Xavian Thompson and Andrew Ortiz also showcased their prowess at the plate, contributing crucial hits and runs to the Lions' offensive onslaught.

On the mound, Reagan Smith delivered a commanding performance, pitching six solid innings while Hayden Mullins shut down the opposition with three innings of flawless relief pitching.

With momentum on their side, the Lions carried their winning spirit into game two, clinching a hard-fought 9-7 victory against Texas A&M-Texarkana. Padilla continued his hot streak, launching his second homer of the day to propel the Lions to victory once again.

Supported by stellar performances from Andrew Ortiz, Jared Kirk, and Ethan Nors on the mound, the Lions showcased their depth and resilience, securing a perfect 2-0 record for the day.

As they look ahead to their next challenge against Central Baptist College, the Lions aim to carry forward the momentum from their Cajun Collision triumphs and continue their winning streak at the Lions Athletic Complex in Waxahachie, Texas, on February 16, 2024.
