Waxahachie, TX - The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions Baseball team hosted the Texas Wesleyan University (TXWES) Rams in a thrilling doubleheader showdown at the Lions Athletic Complex, marking the conclusion of their series in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC).
Game 1
In the opening game, the Lions faced a formidable challenge, succumbing to a 14-4 defeat against Texas Wesleyan. Despite their efforts, highlighted by Avery Chatman's impressive 2 for 3 performance at the plate, including a run scored, an RBI, and 2 stolen bases, the Lions couldn't maintain control. Andrew Ortiz also made a significant contribution, going 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs. However, pitching struggles plagued the Lions, with Reagan Smith, Justin De Los Santos, and Carl Pierson facing formidable opposition on the mound. Neco Lopez and Trevor Proefrock managed to stem the tide, but the deficit proved insurmountable.
Game 2
In the second game, the Lions fought valiantly but fell short in a close 3-1 contest. Despite Ethan Nors' commendable performance on the mound, allowing just 2 earned runs over 6 innings, the Lions couldn't muster enough offensive firepower to secure the win. Andrew Ortiz continued to impress at the plate, contributing 2 hits and an RBI, while Jared Kirk's double added a spark to the lineup. However, it wasn't enough to overcome the resilient Texas Wesleyan defense.
