March 5, 2024

Waxahachie, TX - In a pulsating showdown at the Lions Athletic Complex, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions roared to a commanding 14-4 triumph over the Arlington Baptist University (ABU) Patriots on Tuesday.

Lions Review
The Lions showcased their offensive explosiveness with an explosive display at the plate. Andrew Ortiz led the charge, going 1 for 3 with a stellar home run, driving in 4 runs while crossing the plate twice. Dominick Padilla also made his mark, going 2 for 5 with a powerful home run, contributing 2 RBIs and scoring twice. Jared Kirk and Eli Lyons each added to the offensive onslaught, with Kirk going 2 for 4 with a double and Lyons going 2 for 5 with a double. Avery Chatman, Xavien Thompson, Nick Mosley, and Wesley Flatt also made significant contributions, collectively tallying RBIs, runs, and stolen bases.

On the mound, the Lions' pitching rotation delivered a stellar performance. Despite a challenging start, Neco Lopez battled through 2.2 innings, allowing 4 earned runs but striking out 3. Hayden Mullins emerged as a pivotal figure, claiming the win with 2.1 shutout innings, surrendering only 2 hits while striking out 3. Kaden Kneip and Jason Harper closed out the game with precision, combining for 3 innings of solid pitching, stifling any potential comeback from the Patriots.
