Lady Lions Review
In a game where the Lady Lions took full control in the second half, the action remained intense but scoreless throughout the first 67 minutes. Both teams probed each other's defense, with Nelson creating the bulk of the scoring opportunities. Despite dominating possession and firing 30 shots (18 on target) overall, it wasn't until the 68th minute that the breakthrough finally came.
Anna Bewley, the ever-reliable forward, continued her stellar form by netting her first goal of the match at 67:46. Stephanie Arreola provided the assist, threading a perfectly weighted ball through the Texas A&M defense. Bewley's precise strike broke the deadlock and tilted the game firmly in Nelson's favor. Bewley's all-around effort was reflected in her game-high 10 shots, 8 of which were on target.
In the 87th minute, midfielder Daisy Altamirano added the second goal to seal the game. Altamirano, who had been relentless all match with 10 shots, including 5 on target, showed her attacking prowess and composure to finish off the contest and ensure the Lady Lions walked away with the clean sheet.
On the defensive side, goalkeeper Tanner Sorenson was a wall, making six key saves to preserve the shutout and secure her team's victory.
