Chickasha, OK – The Nelson University Lady Lions kicked off their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) campaign on Saturday with a challenging road match against the undefeated University of Science and Arts. Despite a strong effort, the Lady Lions were unable to overcome the powerful attack of the Drovers, falling 5-1 in their first conference matchup of the season.

Lady Lions Review
Science and Arts struck early, with Ilse de Jong opening the scoring just 3:44 into the match. The Drovers kept up the pressure, adding a second goal at the 26:38 mark through Ashlee Davison, who ended the day with a dominant two-goal, one-assist performance. Nelson's defense was tested throughout the game, with goalkeeper Samantha Longoria making critical saves, but the Drovers' relentless offense proved too much to handle.
The Lady Lions found a spark in the second half when Anna Bewley netted a goal at the 75:04 mark, showcasing her attacking prowess. Bewley led Nelson University with 6 shots, 1 on target, and the lone goal for her side. However, the Drovers had already pulled away with goals from Daniela Salinas and Paula Casajus, putting the game out of reach.
Despite being outshot 23-10, the Lady Lions showed determination and fought until the final whistle, even securing 3 corner kicks. Longoria and Tanner Sorenson combined for 3 saves in goal, helping limit the damage against the potent Drovers offense.
