Waxahachie, TX – In an exhilarating Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) clash, the Nelson University Lady Lions delivered a commanding 69-27 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) on Thursday evening at the Sheaffer Center.
The Lady Lions, fueled by an electric start from Cailyn Tucker, quickly established their dominance on the court. Tucker, showcasing her offensive prowess, scored 15 points, including three shots from beyond the arc. Her performance ignited Nelson's early surge, leading to a decisive 34-13 advantage at halftime.
Nelson's defense was suffocating, limiting OPSU to a mere 16.1% shooting from the field and forcing two technical fouls. Diana Santos of OPSU led her team with 9 points and 9 rebounds, but the relentless Lady Lions proved too formidable.
Key contributions from Lauryn Scalice, who added 11 points and connected on two three-pointers, and Autumn Moore, who dominated the boards with 9 rebounds, further cemented Nelson's control of the game. The Lady Lions' depth was on full display as ten different players scored, and the team collectively dished out 17 assists.
The victory, witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd of 232, elevates Nelson to a 6-15 overall record and 5-13 in SAC play.Â
