Goodwell, OK – The Nelson University Lions men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday afternoon in a defensive showcase that ended in a hard-fought 0–0 draw at Anchor D Stadium.
From the opening whistle, the Lions dictated tempo and controlled possession, outshooting the Aggies 19–10 and applying consistent pressure throughout both halves. Despite the offensive push, the match turned into a goalkeeper's duel as Amir Raime anchored the back line with three key saves and a clean sheet between the posts.
Joel Palmer led the Lions' attack with four shots and a constant presence in the midfield, while Tyler Peloquin and Edwin Mbaka each added strong offensive looks as Nelson racked up seven corner kicks on the day.
In the closing minutes, Nelson nearly found the breakthrough goal as Landon Exley and Makel Mitchell each created late chances, but Oklahoma Panhandle's defense held firm to preserve the stalemate.
The draw moves Nelson to 5-3-3 overall (0-1-2 SAC) and reflects a resilient road performance that keeps the Lions trending upward as conference play heats up.
