Goodwell, OK – The Nelson University Lady Lions women's soccer team took the road trip west for a Sooner Athletic Conference clash at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday afternoon, where they ultimately fell 4–1 at Anchor D Stadium.
Panhandle struck early and often, building a 4–0 lead by the 31st minute before Nelson settled in and began to find its rhythm. The Lady Lions regrouped in the second half with sharper ball control and defensive adjustments, holding OPSU scoreless the rest of the way.
The breakthrough came in the 48th minute when reigning SAC Offensive Player of the Week Daisy Altamirano buried a penalty kick to get Nelson on the board. Delaney Murphy stood tall in goal with four saves, while Stephanie Hernandez and Daisy Ruiz each added multiple shots to keep the pressure on late.
Despite the setback, Nelson moves to 7-2-2 (2-1 SAC) and remains firmly in the top half of the conference standings as they continue their road swing next week.
