Lions Outlast LSU Shreveport in Overtime Thriller, 91–86

November 10, 2025

Waxahachie, TX — The Nelson University Lions gave the home crowd inside the Sheaffer Center a night to remember, storming past RV Louisiana State University Shreveport, 91–86, in overtime on Monday, November 10. The win moves Nelson to 4–1 on the season and extends their early momentum heading into conference play.

The Sheaffer was electric from start to finish, reaching a fever pitch when JJ Boling buried a clutch three-pointer off a perfectly timed pass from Preston Lawrence to send the game into overtime. The crowd erupted as the Lions carried that energy into the extra period, closing the door on the visiting Pilots with grit, poise, and timely execution on both ends.

Leading the charge was Micah Clark, who was unstoppable from all three levels. The big guard poured in 32 points on 12-of-19 shooting, hitting three triples and controlling the offense with confidence down the stretch. Inside, Jesse Iweze was a dominant presence, finishing with 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 blocks, showcasing the kind of rim protection that swung momentum every time LSU Shreveport attacked the paint.

Trelin Green orchestrated the offense with precision, dishing out a team-high 12 assists while also contributing defensively with three steals. Steven Samuels provided a key spark off the bench, scoring eight points and adding valuable hustle plays in overtime, while Brionne Williams hit a pair of timely shots to keep the Lions within striking distance.

Nelson shot 43.1% from the floor and went 22-for-33 at the line, but it was their defensive composure and offensive balance in overtime that sealed the win. The Lions forced 18 turnovers and turned them into 22 points off turnovers, outscoring the Pilots 10–5 in the decisive extra period.
