Lions Handle Business at Home, Power Past Central Christian in SAC Battle

Waxahachie, Texas | November 22, 2025 — The No. 20 Nelson University Lions protected home court once again on Saturday afternoon, grinding out a 73–65 conference win over Central Christian College inside a lively Sheaffer Center crowd.

Nelson struck first and often, jumping out behind early shot-making from Latrel Davis, who splashed back-to-back threes to give the Lions an immediate spark. Central Christian responded with physicality inside, but Nelson's defensive toughness and depth kept the advantage intact as the Lions carried a 33–29 lead into halftime.

The second half belonged to Micah Clark, JJ Boling, Trelin Green, and Jesse Iweze a four-man engine that carried Nelson through every big moment.

Clark was everywhere, finishing with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and multiple momentum plays, including a thunderous second-half dunk that ignited the arena. Boling delivered big-shot energy, knocking down three second-half threes on his way to 10 points and 6 boards. Green orchestrated the offense masterfully with 8 assists, added 11 points, and knocked down key free throws late to protect the lead. Iweze anchored the interior once again with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, including a clutch rejection in the final minutes.

Nelson's bench punched above its weight too, pouring in 20 points, highlighted by Preston Lawrence's pair of second-half triples that broke the game open, and Ozavian Buford.

Down the stretch, the Lions' defense tightened the screws. Nelson forced 21 turnovers and converted them into 14 points, while holding CCCK without a field goal during a critical late-game stretch. The Lions led by as many as nine in the closing minute and closed the door confidently at the free-throw line.

Nelson out-rebounded the Tigers 33–36, shot 41% from the field, and hit 10 threes at a 38.5% clip—enough to secure their first SAC win of the season and move to 5–2 overall, 1–1 in league play.
