Waxahachie, TX | Nov. 8, 2025 — The Nelson University Lady Lions closed out the regular season in electrifying fashion, sweeping Wayland Baptist University (25–22, 25–21, 25–22) inside a roaring Sheaffer Center to secure the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship.
With the Sheaffer crowd buzzing and Homecoming week in full swing, the Lady Lions rose to the moment, playing with the same energy and grit that have defined their remarkable season.
Set One
Nelson came out composed yet fierce, trading points with the Pioneers before breaking away late. The set ended fittingly on a two-hand shove from Hope Jones, who spotted a gap in the defense and sent the crowd into a frenzy as the Lady Lions took it 25–22.
Set Two
The second frame was sizzling from start to finish. Nelson's offense caught fire behind Addison Standley and Alexandra Bonnett, who delivered kill after kill to swing the momentum. Standley hit an impressive .424 with 15 kills, while Bonnett was nearly unstoppable at .343 with another 15 kills of her own. Taylor Cavazos orchestrated the attack masterfully, dishing out 18 assists and keeping Wayland guessing throughout.
Set Three
Wayland tried to force a fourth set, but Nelson's balance and belief were too much to overcome. Cassidy Hargesheimer added four aces and 17 assists, while libero Chloe Munoz anchored the defense with 22 digs. The Lady Lions closed out the match with poise, taking the final set 25–22 and with it, the regular-season crown.
With the sweep, Nelson improved to 22–9 overall and 20–2 in SAC play, capturing the 2025 SAC Regular Season title in front of a home crowd of 300. The victory not only capped an unforgettable Homecoming week but also marked another milestone in the Lady Lions' growing legacy.
