Waxahachie, TX | December 13, 2025 — In their final contest of the 2025 calendar year, the No. 18 Nelson University Lions delivered a resounding statement inside the Sheaffer Center, powering past Florida Memorial University 90–76 in a non-conference showdown that showcased second-half dominance.
The night belonged to Micah Clark.
The senior guard was electric from start to finish, pouring in a career-high 37 points on an ultra-efficient 13-of-20 shooting while knocking down four triples and attacking relentlessly in transition. Clark saved his best for the second half, erupting for 27 points after the break as Nelson flipped a tight game into a double-digit win.
Florida Memorial struck first and controlled the tempo early, taking a narrow 34–33 edge into halftime. The Lions absorbed the early pressure, stayed composed, and emerged from the locker room with a different edge. Nelson shot a blistering 65.4% in the second half, scoring 57 points and steadily pulling away as Clark repeatedly broke down the defense off the dribble and on the break.
While Clark supplied the fireworks, the Lions' balance sealed the outcome. Trelin Green orchestrated the offense with poise, finishing with eight points and seven assists, constantly keeping Florida Memorial off balance. JJ Boling added timely perimeter shooting and defensive energy, while Jesse Iweze impacted the game inside with rebounds, rim protection, and key free throws down the stretch.
Nelson also controlled the game when it mattered most, outscoring the Lions of Florida Memorial 57–42 in the second half, winning the turnover battle, and converting critical free throws late to slam the door. The performance capped an impressive close to the year and reinforced why Nelson continues to climb the national conversation.
With momentum firmly in hand, the Lions now turn their attention to conference play as the calendar flips.
