Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions Softball team opened their 2025 season in dominant fashion, securing a doubleheader sweep over Dallas Christian College at the Waxahachie Athletic Complex. Behind stellar pitching and explosive offense, the Lady Lions outscored their opponent 17-1 across two games, setting the tone for the season ahead. Â
Game 1
After a quiet first inning, Nelson erupted in the second, fueled by a two-run homer from Madi Wiggins that ignited the offense. The Lady Lions poured in four more runs in the fourth, with Taylor Ford's clutch two-RBI single adding to the damage. Â
Pitcher Natalie Zamora delivered a gem, allowing just two hits while striking out six in a complete-game victory. Â
Game 2: Shutout Domination (W, 8-0)
Nelson wasted no time in Game 2, scoring in the first inning and never looking back. Sydney Jennings' RBI triple set the tone early, and a six-run fourth inning put the game out of reach. Tayler Muhle was sensational on the mound, tossing a one-hit shutout while striking out seven. Â
