Waxahachie, TX - The Nelson University Lions battled hard in Saturday's doubleheader against the University of Science and Arts (Okla.), splitting the series in dramatic fashion at the Lions Athletic Complex.
GAME 1
Despite a strong showing at the plate, the Lions fell short in the opening game, losing 7-3. Science and Arts capitalized on key moments, scoring three late runs in the sixth to pull away. Zeke Holder blasted a two-run homer in the sixth to bring Nelson closer, but the rally came up short. Xavien Thompson also had a solid game, going 2-for-4 with a double.
GAME 2
In a game filled with clutch moments, the Lions roared back from an early deficit and stunned the Drovers with a walk-off single by Nick Mosley in the seventh to secure a 5-4 victory.
Zeke Holder continued his hot streak, crushing his second home run of the day to help spark the comeback.
Jaxson Bates had a key RBI single and later scored the winning run, igniting the home crowd.
Layton Mogford delivered 5.2 innings of scoreless relief, shutting down USAO's offense and earning the win.

The Lions hit the road for a crucial SAC matchup against Oklahoma City University on Friday, March 7, with first pitch set for 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM.
