Waxahachie, Texas - Nelson Softball delivered a pair of strong performances Tuesday afternoon at the Waxahachie Athletic Complex, sweeping Oklahoma Panhandle State in a SAC doubleheader with 2-1 and 3-0 victories.
Game One
Pitcher Natalie Zamora turned in another brilliant outing, going the full 7.0 innings while allowing just two hits and one earned run. She picked up the win and struck out two along the way
The Lions tied the game in the third on an RBI single from Brooke Kinnibrugh, then walked it off in the bottom of the seventh on a clutch RBI knock from Cadence Hopgood. Nelson racked up 9 hits in the game, with Avery Coleman and Kinnibrugh each recording multi-hit games.
Game Two
In Game Two, Valerie Guzman followed Zamora's example with a complete game shutout, scattering 7 hits while striking out three to move to 4-1 on the season.
The offense gave her all the support she needed, with Makinzy Kneip delivering a key RBI triple in the sixth. Macie Blizzard added a go-ahead RBI single in the fifth, and Kinnibrugh continued her hot day with an RBI knock of her own in the third.
Nelson tallied 10 hits for the game and played clean in the field, committing just one error.

The Lady Lions (13-20) hit the road this Friday, April 11, for a SAC doubleheader at Langston. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM in Langston, Oklahoma.
