Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions women's soccer team opened the 2025 season in emphatic fashion Friday night at the Lions Athletic Complex, thrilling a packed home crowd hungry for the return of soccer action after a long summer.
Lady Lions Review
From the opening whistle, the Lady Lions dictated the pace of play. With the late-summer sun casting across the pitch, Nelson looked confident, composed, and relentless in their attack. Fans didn't have to wait long to see the first roar of the season.
Daisy Ruiz etched her name into the history books, striking the very first goal of the 2025 campaign. A perfectly placed pass from Monika Olivares set Ruiz up in stride, and the finish ignited both the sideline and the stands.
But the night belonged to Anna Stovall, who delivered a dazzling performance with a hat trick, showcasing her clinical finishing ability and leadership. Each goal seemed to lift the energy higher.
Not to be outdone, Daisy Altamirano added a pair of goals of her own, further widening the gap and sending a statement that the Lady Lions' attack will be lethal.Â
