Lions Blank University of Dallas in 4–0 Home Win

September 20, 2025

Waxahachie, TX –
The Nelson University Lions kept the momentum rolling on Saturday afternoon, delivering a convincing 4–0 shutout over the University of Dallas at the Lions Athletic Complex.

The Lions set the tone early, dominating possession and probing the Crusaders' backline. In the 23rd minute, Sergio Lopez Garcia broke through with a sharp finish to give Nelson the lead. The Lions carried their 1–0 advantage into halftime, controlling tempo and limiting Dallas to zero shots in the opening frame.

Nelson's attack came alive after the break. Teddy Nkamanyi stole the show, scoring twice in a four-minute span—first off a feed from Lopez Garcia in the 55th, then burying another with help from Tyler Peloquin in the 59th. The Lions capped the scoring in the 70th minute when Joao Delgado finished a chance to seal the 4–0 result.

The backline and keepers combined for a flawless defensive outing. Yahir Perez and Michael Smith split time in goal, but neither was forced to make a save as Dallas failed to register a shot on frame all afternoon. Nelson's defense also forced the Crusaders into nine fouls while winning the battle for set pieces, earning seven corners to Dallas' two.

  • Nelson outshot Dallas 18–0, including an 8–0 edge on target.

  • Lopez Garcia contributed directly to two goals (1G/1A).

  • Nkamanyi led the way with his brace, bringing energy and composure in the attacking third.
