Quinton Jones Delivers Longest TD Run in Nelson History

September 23, 2025

Waxahachie, TX – For Nelson University running back Quinton Jones, Saturday's win over Arkansas Baptist College will be one to remember. The 6'0", 200-pound redshirt sophomore from Houston, Texas, ripped off a 96-yard touchdown run... the longest rushing play in program history.

Wearing No. 17, Jones showed the speed and toughness that made him a standout at Jersey Village High School. The record-breaking run wasn't just a highlight; it was a momentum-shifting play that gave the Lions a jolt and showcased the explosive potential in their backfield. Jones has spent the past two years putting in the work, developing his game, and waiting for his chance. On Saturday, that patience paid off in a big way. Now, with confidence running high, the Lions have another offensive weapon who can break the game wide open at any moment.

Next Up: The Lions return home for a rivalry clash on Saturday, September 27, at 2:00 PM, when they face No. 22 Texas Wesleyan University in Sooner Athletic Conference action at Lumpkins Stadium in Waxahachie, TX.
