Bethany, OK – The Nelson University Lady Lions volleyball team capped off the backside of their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) opening road trip with a dominant performance, sweeping Southwestern Christian University 3–0 on Saturday afternoon inside Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
Nelson wasted no time establishing control, storming through the first two sets with commanding scores of 25–12 and 25–10. The Lady Lions closed the door in set three, finishing the sweep 25–16.
The attack was powered by Alexandra Bonnett, who turned in a monster outing with 16 kills and 15 digs for a double-double.
Caroline Boone added 12 kills on an impressive .409 hitting percentage, while Samantha Moore chipped in 5 kills and 7 digs.
Setter Taylor Cavazos orchestrated the offense with 27 assists and a pair of service aces, while Hailey Nixon anchored the back row with 14 digs and three aces of her own.
Nelson's efficiency was on full display as the team hit .295 for the match while holding SCU to just .009.
It was a total team effort, with contributions across the board as the Lady Lions cruised to their second SAC victory in as many days starting conference play with a perfect 2–0 record.

SAC play continues Friday, September 12 at 6:00 PM when the Lady Lions return home to the Sheaffer Center to face Mid-America Christian University (Okla.). The match will feature a special ring ceremony honoring the 2024 SAC champion Lady Lions volleyball team, who captured the title with a flawless conference record.
