Lady Lions Stays Rolling Earns Victory Over University of Science & Arts

In the first matchup, the Lady Lions faced the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma Drovers and continued to take care of business, earning a 3-1 victory.

Although Nelson only dropped one set, the match proved to be more competitive than usual, with both teams battling closely throughout. The Lady Lions took the first two sets by identical 25-22 scores before the Drovers responded with a 25-21 win in the third. Nelson closed out the match in the fourth set, securing a 25-19 victory to claim the match.

A key difference for Nelson was its offensive production, as the Lady Lions recorded 63 kills compared to the Drovers' 54. Sophomore Addison Standley led the way with 16 kills, while Mackenzie Smith and Caroline Boone each contributed 11.

Cassidy Hargesheimer continued to lead Nelson's offense from the setter position, recording 26 assists. Ashlyn Cavazos followed with 21 assists, helping the Lady Lions maintain their offensive rhythm throughout the match.

Defensively, Nelson continued to make key plays to maintain its advantage. Chloe Munoz led the team with 18 digs, while Hargesheimer added 11 digs of her own.

Savannah Bergman, Keara Savory-Calbo and Camdyn Owen also made significant contributions at the net. Bergman recorded four blocks, while Savory-Calbo and Owen each finished with three.
