Nelson Completes 3-0 Sweep Over John Brown

Siloam Springs, Ark. — After picking up a win over College of the Ozarks in Missouri the previous day, the Nelson Lady Lions were back on the court for the second half of their weekend doubleheader. Traveling from Missouri to Arkansas, the Lady Lions kept their momentum going against John Brown University, coming away with a 3-0 sweep to finish the weekend strong.

Despite earning the clean sweep, the Lady Lions had to work for the victory, with all three sets with close scores. Nelson took the first set 25-23, followed by a 25-22 win in the second before closing out the match with a 25-20 victory in the third.

Offensively, the Lady Lions used a balanced attack to gain the upper hand, with three players tying for the team lead in kills. Freshman Camdyn Owen had a strong performance for the purple and white, recording nine kills and two blocks.

Alongside Owen, sophomore Addison Standley and senior Mackenzie Smith also finished with nine kills apiece, giving Nelson multiple options against the John Brown defense.

Senior setter Cassidy Hargesheimer led the team with 22 assists, while Ashlyn Cavazos added 15 assists to help facilitate the Nelson offense. From the service line, Taylor Felux and Hailey Nixon recorded two aces apiece to help the Lady Lions maintain pressure on John Brown.

Defensively, Savannah Bergman led the way at the net with three blocks, alongside Owen's 2 blocks. Chloe Munoz and Nixon also helped keep rallies alive, recording 13 and 12 digs, respectively. Hargesheimer contributed nine digs of her own to help the Lady Lions complete the sweep.

The victory extends the Lady Lions' winning streak to a remarkable 18 matches. Nelson has also officially secured a berth in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament while remaining undefeated in conference play.
