Waxahachie, TX– The Lions faced a huge test at home at the Lions athletic complex facing the no. 6 team in the country in NAIA and front runner of the sooner athletic conference Mid-America Christian but failed to earn the upset losing 4-0.
Nelson appeared poised to pull off an upset against the conference front-runner, allowing just one goal in the first half. The Lions entered halftime within striking distance, giving themselves a chance to respond in the second half.
However, as Nelson looked to even the score and potentially take the lead, MACU had other plans. The Evangels took control in the second half, scoring three additional goals in the 68th, 79th and 87th minutes to seal a 4-0 victory over the Lions.
Offensively, Nelson was relatively even with MACU in total shot attempts, recording 10 compared to the Evangels' 12. However, the difference came down to accuracy and putting shots on goal.
Of MACU's 12 shot attempts, seven were on target, with four finding the back of the net. Nelson, on the other hand, managed just one shot on goal out of its 10 attempts, making it difficult for the Lions to generate scoring opportunities.
Maquan Aldridge led Nelson's offensive efforts with four shot attempts, including the Lions' lone shot on goal.

Yahir Perez played the full 90 minutes, recording three saves in the loss.
The defeat drops Nelson to 4-8-2 overall and 1-5-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
